Ignite Literacy

Ignite Literacy Program
Ignite Literacy is a community-centered initiative designed to strengthen reading skills, spark curiosity, and help children throughout Jefferson County build brighter futures through meaningful, play-based learning.
Turning the Page Together
The Ignite Literacy Program was created to help address the low literacy rates by giving children more opportunities to read, imagine, create, and learn in supportive community spaces.
Beginning in Fall 2026, Ignite Literacy will provide engaging programs in which children learn through play, hands-on activities, storytelling, creative exploration, and family-centered literacy experiences. The goal is simple: help children become stronger readers while making learning joyful and accessible.
Early Literacy Support
Programs will introduce children to reading, vocabulary, language development, and story comprehension in fun and age-appropriate ways.
Learning Through Play
Children will build literacy skills through games, crafts, movement, music, dramatic play, and interactive activities.
Community Impact
The initiative brings families, libraries, educators, and local partners together to support stronger readers across Pine Bluff and Jefferson County.
What Children Will Experience

- Play-Based Learning: Literacy activities using games, puzzles, art, building materials, and movement.
- Family Literacy Nights: Opportunities for parents and caregivers to learn strategies that support reading at home.
