Act 1227 of 1999 requires State Government or state funded entities to develop non-visual standards so that websites are equally accessible to blind or visually impaired visitors. For instance, websites must provide text equivalents for all non-text elements such as images, animation, audio and video. Every effort to comply with these guidelines has been made on the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System website. Information which can be identified or associated with a particular person or persons and which can be accessed through the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System web site is subject to these principles and policies:
The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System has records pertaining to Library Users. This information falls under the guidelines of Arkansas Code 13-2-703, and shall remain confidential as prescribed by law.
The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act recognizes concerns people have with regard to public records that include information about them, including the right to correct inaccurate information. Library Users may request information about their Library Account in person at any of the Library Locations during regular business hours. Some information is available on-line to users who have submitted a personal identification number.
The information collected by the Library is only necessary to provide normal services sought by library users. One does not have to provide personal information to visit the Library’s website or download information from the site. However, certain databases may require that the user provide information to prove that he or she is an authorized user of the Library.
The IP (Internet Protocol) numbers of computers used to visit [network] sites are noted as part of our statistical analysis on use of our web sites. No marketing databases are created nor is any commercial use made of any such data.
A few commercial websites are linked on the Library’s website. These private sector sites are not subject to the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. Visitors to said sites may wish to check privacy statements and be cautious about providing personal identifiable information.
